Message Dialog Sounds

Message dialogs used in King Stairs Software products will play a sound as they are displayed to get the user’s attention.

The sounds played and whether they are played at all is controlled by the user’s current sound scheme.

Turning Sounds On/Off

To turn these sounds on or off:

  1. In the Windows Control Panel, select the Sounds and Multimedia applet.
  2. A properties dialog will be displayed. Select the Sounds tab.
  3. Under Scheme, select “No Sounds” to disable sounds or choose a scheme such as “Windows Default” to enable sounds.
  4. Click OK.

Changing Sounds

Besides turning sounds on or off, you can also change the actual sound played:

  1. In the Windows Control Panel, select the Sounds and Multimedia applet.
  2. A properties dialog will be displayed. Select the Sounds tab.
  3. Under Scheme, select a new scheme from the list provided. Your choices will depend on which version of Windows you are using and what schemes are installed.
  4. (Advanced Users Only) You can also change individual sound events by selecting it in the list and choosing a new .WAV (sound) file to associate with the event. The arrow button will play the selection.
  5. Click OK.

Please note that any changes to sound events will affect all applications that use them.

Alternatively, some applications have a configuration option to disable message sounds for that application.
