Where Did the Name King Stairs Software Come From?

A frequent question! Our office was originally in King Stairs Close, in London’s historic Rotherhithe district.

The name derives from the King Stairs, a staircase down to the Thames riverside (clearly visible on satellite maps).

Trivia: When the company was formed, we actually had to get permission from the Crown (some department of the Royal Household) to use that name because it contained the reserved word “King”.

Windows XP Still Supported?

Microsoft ended all support for Windows XP on April 8th (sort-of…).

At this time, King Stairs Software will support our products on Windows XP for the near future – at least until the end of 2014.

Future product releases may drop support for Windows XP, requiring Windows Vista SP2 as the minimum supported OS.

This FAQ topic will be updated as needed.
